We were up bright and early yesterday morning (Monday) and I
managed to successfully descend the scary spiral staircase with my backpack on
my back. We made our way the short
distance to the Marseille Station and I even had time for a coffee before we
caught the train.
On our journey north to Lyon, I sat back and enjoyed the passing
scenery. We changed trains at Lyon and
went to Geneva. Until we reached Switzerland,
it hadn’t sunk in that they do not use the Euro! In Geneva, while I waited in a queue to
reserve train seats, Anna changed some money to cover small purchases.
The first part of the trip from Geneva to Visp was along to
shores of Lake Geneva/Lac Leman – I again enjoyed the passing scenery.
At Visp we changed trains and continued on to
Zermatt. Zermatt is car-free, which was
great. It is also from where you can
view the Matterhorn. When we arrived
last night, it was partially shrouded in cloud.
However, this morning before breakfast, we got photos of this magnificent
mountain with the sun shining on it!
After breakfast, we again made our way to the station and boarded
the “Glacier Express”. We enjoyed a day
of spectacular scenery and are stopping the night in St Moritz.
Tomorrow we are off to Salzburg...
